HYLDÝPI, the Icelandic translation of abyss, was an immersive exhibition (1-15 March 2024), where the audience was able to listen and observe, not just by standing, but by moving and experiencing the space.
The work wants to speak and nurture human perceptions and relationships, in a physical/non-physical space, where the feeling of time and memory is still connected to human feelings.
In the face of the monstrous, irresponsible iniquity of contemporary times, human beings increasingly need to rediscover a sense of fraternity and humanity.
As Nietzsche’s lesson in “Jenseits von Gut und Böse”, where darkness and emptiness of the void are present, the sense of negativity is not necessarily portrayed as a distortion or loss, instead potentially showing the inner side of a person and perhaps a more intimate self-knowledge.

There was an opening performance during the inauguration of the exhibition.
The performance was an improvisation for voice and flutes, based on site-specific instructions created by Camilla Cerioni.
